Green Aventurine

Underneath the name it is sandstone that got cooked. Old seabed sand, buried and pressed until the grains welded into one hard rock, with flakes of green mica caught inside.

The sparkle is only those flakes catching light. Blue and red aventurine is usually dyed quartzite. Green is the one they left alone.

Aries, you were pressed into being the strong one and nobody has released you from it.

You got noticed for beginnings when you were young, and nobody stayed to watch the slow part. You learned that being seen and being interested were the same thing.

Now you drop good work at the moment it goes quiet, and you call it losing interest, and it is not that.

Nothing about this welded fast. It took the whole weight of a seabed.

Tilt it towards a window and the green flecks wink, then go dull, then wink again. Those are mica flakes trapped when sand welded into rock on an old seabed.

Green aventurine is untreated. The blue and red trays beside it are usually dyed quartzite, and nobody in the shop will mention it.

Green goldstone sits next to it in most shops. That one is manufactured glass with copper in it, and its sparkle is perfectly even.

Libra, nothing ever rubs off on the people near you, because you decided young to hold your own bad days.

One wrong sentence at a table when you were small changed the whole night for everyone. You decided then that you would never be the one who did that.

So you answer in a way that cannot start anything, and by now you honestly do not know which of the options you wanted.

Pick one thing today for no reason except wanting it.

Sagittarius, you got pressed into something solid and the bright part of you is what never welded shut.

Adults spent your childhood listing what you could not do, and being wrong nearly every time. So you stopped believing anybody who told you to be careful.

That is why you are brave. You were also on your own the one time being careful would have helped. You have never said so.

Check the label. Then do the reckless thing anyway.

Look at the flecks under a lamp. Different sizes, scattered unevenly, some bright and some barely there, because sand does not organise itself.

Green goldstone is the even one. That is glass, made on purpose, and it sits in the same tray at the same price.

Capricorn, you think the unevenness in you is a mistake rather than the proof.

You were praised for coping before you were old enough to know there was another option, and coping has been the whole method ever since. Rest gets filed under waste.

There is a year you never mention that you got a whole family through. You count it as a gap in your career.
