Fluorite

Take a steel knife to this and it scratches. Quartz would not. That single test is how you tell fluorite from every purple stone on the shelf.

Half the purple pieces sold as amethyst are actually this. The shop may not know either.

Aries, you change hard depending on who is in the room and you would deny that flatly.

You can list what you started this year. Somebody made a fuss about your speed when you were small, and you have been going back for that face ever since. When a thing slows, you take it as proof you chose badly.

It is not proof. It is the part where nobody claps and the work happens anyway.

Keep it out of the sun. The purple goes.

Hot mineral water moved through cracks in rock and this grew there, cube stacked on cube. As the water changed, the colour changed with it, band over band.

That banding in rainbow fluorite is genuinely natural. Some pale material does get irradiated or heat-altered, and nobody puts that on the card.

Taurus, you changed slowly every time your circumstances did, and you have been calling yourself unchanging the whole while.

Somebody sold you a version of themselves once and you took the whole thing. What stayed with you was not the money. It was finding out that your own judgement had a hole in it. One you could not see.

You check everything twice now and call it being careful. It keeps you safe and it keeps you outside rooms you wanted.

Take a knife to it. That is the whole test.

Hold it up and look for the flat triangular faces where it has split. One knock does that and it splits clean along a plane.

That is what it means to be soft. It goes at the seam every time, and there is no repairing it.

Gemini, you change with whatever is feeding you that month and you call it being open-minded.

You are fast and it has always worked for you. Somebody looked bored while you were being ordinary once. You saw it, and you have not risked plain since. Now you can hold a whole table and get home having said nothing you meant.

The flat sentence is the one people are actually waiting for. Nothing built on it.

Soft is not the same as worthless. It just means every warning attached to it happens to be true.

Somebody puts pale fluorite through irradiation or heat to bring the colour up. Rainbow banding is not that. That part is genuinely how it grew.

The concentration and study story is newer still. Sellers built it last century and it has never had an older source.

Capricorn, the story about you being the capable one was written by other people.

You can name the exact year you stopped expecting help. You were young enough that it should have been someone else's job. Instead you got competent, and everyone around you got comfortable with that.

Being reliable was never the same thing as being carried. No one has offered to take a turn since.
